Soybean Farmers' Chemical Use, Production Costs to be Surveyed
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/24/2020

The USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service will soon be gathering information about farm economics and production practices from soybean producers across Wisconsin. As part of the 2020 Agricultural Resource Management Survey, the agency will conduct the survey in-person starting as early as October, and recommends that farmers have their fertilizer and pesticide spray records available to provide accurate data.

"The information gathered will give producers the opportunity to explain how they use agricultural chemicals and manage pests responsibly," said State Agriculture Statistician Greg Bussler. "The results will also help agricultural leaders and decision makers better understand how producers cope with risks and make decisions about chemical use, new technologies and other aspects of farming."

NASS is reaching out to over 4,000 soybean growers across the country, including nearly 200 in Wisconsin.

Data provided by farmers is confidential and protected by law. NASS further safeguards the privacy of all respondents by publishing only aggregate data, ensuring that no individual operation or producer can be identified.
