One of the founders of Wisconsin's largest agricultural newspaper has died. James Brayer of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away last week at his home after a seven month battle with lung cancer. He was 72.

Brayer earned his BA in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1967. After serving in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, he worked in the advertising department for Montgomery-Ward and later moved to central Wisconsin, where he was employed by the Marshfield News-Herald in sales.

In 1975, Brayer, along with Jerry Petcher, Bryan McNeely and Emil Radeztsky, started Agri-View in Marshfield. Jim served as sales manager of the publication for 15 years before selling the company to Krause Publications of Iola in 1990.

Services for Jim Brayer will be held November 8 in Arizona.
