Wisconsin Workshop will Covers Crossbreeding and Fertility

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension will host the Breeding Edge: Reproduction & Crossbreeding Insights workshop on November 5, 2026, in Jefferson, Wisconsin.

The program is designed to provide dairy farmers, veterinarians, and other industry professionals with current research findings and practical information on dairy cattle reproduction and breeding strategies.

The workshop will cover several important topics, including heifer reproduction, sexed semen, the high fertility cycle, and crossbreeding practices.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from university specialists and discuss research developments that may support reproductive efficiency and dairy herd management.

Presenters include Dr. JP Martins, assistant professor in the Department of Medical Sciences at the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine; Dr. Paul M. Fricke, professor and Extension specialist in dairy cattle reproduction; Dr. Victor Cabrera, professor and Extension specialist in dairy farm management; and Alison Pfau, bilingual regional dairy educator.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at UW-Madison Extension Jefferson County, 864 Collins Road, Jefferson, Wisconsin.

Registration costs $20 and includes lunch and educational materials. Advance registration is required by October 30, 2026. Attending veterinarians are eligible to receive two continuing education credits.
