State Fair Continues to Rank Among the Best Events in the Nation
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/13/2020

The awards continue to pile up for the Wisconsin State Fair, held each summer near Milwaukee. Fair office officials announced they won 46 awards at the 129th Annual International Fairs and Expositions Convention held last month in San Antonio, Texas.

Award entries are evaluated and judged by a team of industry leaders. The Wisconsin State Fair submitted entries in the five main categories of the event, which include Agricultural, Communications, Competitive Exhibits, Sponsorship and Non-Fair Facility usage.

Wisconsin State Fair Park CEO Kathleen O'Leary says the WSF has entered IAFE awards for many years, but 2019 marked the sixth time it was judged in Division 5, which includes fairs with annual attendance of more than one million people.

"The IAFE awards programs are extremely competitive, and Division 5 includes the largest events worldwide, all with attendance exceeding one million visitors," O'Leary said. "We are honored to consistently win various awards across all categories, which shows the breadth and depth of our strengths at the Wisconsin State Fair. Awards like these encourage and motivate our staff as we are planning the 2020 Wisconsin State Fair."

Within the Agricultural Awards categories, the fair received a total of eight awards, including first place in the Innovative Way Technology Is Used To Benefit Agriculture Programs category. The event also earned seven first-place awards in the area of communications, and a Supreme Champion and Best of Division placing for competitive exhibits.

Next year's Wisconsin State Fair will be held August 6-16 in West Allis.
