Kewaunee County Notifies Residents of Manure Spill

Local government leaders in Kewaunee County have notified residents and businesses in the town of Lincoln of a liquid manure spill under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The Kewaunee County Land & Water Conservation
Departmentis assisting the agency with the spill, which was reported on Friday on a farm near Algoma.
The DNR says property owners are taking care of cleanup and that the agency is not identifying the farm where the spill originated from.
Due to the karst nature of the area, an alert went out to those in the affected area who are registered under the RAVE notification system and on social media. The local public health department is also going door to door in the area with notice to use caution
with drinking water.
Officials advise that bottled water is used if there is a difference in color, smell or taste of tap water. Agencies are also offering water testing kits.
