Members of the Wisconsin State Senate approved a joint resolution on Tuesday to honor the life and service of former Rep. Ed Brooks from Reedsburg, who passed away April 23 after a lengthy battle with leukemia. A life-long dairy farmer, Brooks was a member of the Assembly Agriculture Committee for many years before stepping down from his seat in the 50th assembly district in January, where he served for 10 years.
"I miss Ed very much and this resolution is just one way to honor his service to our community and the state of Wisconsin," said Sen. Howard Marklein, who authored the resolution.
Prior to entering politics, Brooks served many years as a board member for Foremost Farms USA and as a director and chairman of the Wisconsin Federation of Cooperatives.
He was also a member of the Department of Agriculture's Working Lands Initiative; and emeritus member of the UW-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Board of Visitors.
