Wisconsin to Host National Outstanding Farmer Competition in '21
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/10/2020

Some of the nation's best and brightest young farmers will be in America's Dairyland early next year as they compete for the 2021 Outstanding Farmers of America award.

Wisconsin is hosting the forum for the first time since the 1980s on February 4-7, 2021 in the Green Bay area. Dan Natzke of Wayside Dairy in Brown County will serve as the event's chairman.

"This will be a great opportunity to show off Wisconsin's dairy industry, as well as our other unique attractions like Lambeau Field and the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center," said Natzke, who was the state's top Outstanding Young Farmer in 1987 and went on to be a national winner the following year.

As part of the competition, ten finalists from around the country are chosen to compete as one of the top four winners. They are judged on the progress in their ag career, use of soil and water conservation, and contributions to their communities.

The Outstanding Farmers of America is comprised of past nominees of the Outstanding Young Farmer program. With approximately 1,500 members, the group is designed to facilitate an exchange of ideas and friendship that encourages excellence and involvement in agriculture and the local, state and national community.

Many of Wisconsin's OYF winners have gone on to compete at the national level, in which 19 have been chosen as winners.
