Though most businesses are taking a financial hit because of the preventative measures brought on by COVID-19, the grocery industry is having a banner year.
Last week, Walmart announced plans to hire more than 4,200 additional associates in Wisconsin to handle the increased demand in its stores. The large retail chain is looking to hire 150,000 nationwide within the next two months.
Walmart has over 11,500 locations worldwide, including 5,000 in the United States. Wisconsin has 99 stores and over 29,000 employees.
Many other grocery chains announced plans to add more staff, including Roundy's and Pick 'n Save.
