PDPF's 'Plant a Seed' Campaign Raises Over $43,000
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 04/22/2019

Despite tough times in the farm economy, dairy producers and industry leaders have helped raise $43,077 for the Professional Dairy Producers Foundation. As part of its second annual 'Plant a Seed. Inspire a Dream' campaign, the group will now be able to reinvest those contributions through education programs that grow the next generation of dairy leaders.

For the past two months, PDPF board members Mark Diederichs of Breeze Dairy and Jeff Montsma from Agropur led opposing teams to raise money in a friendly online competition. Montsma's team was the top fundraiser with nearly $23,500 in total donations.

"We are extremely grateful to the producers, business partners and supporters for helping us achieve this level of giving,” said Janet Keller, who is the incoming director for the PDPF. "We set a goal of raising $30,000, so to have exceeded that amount by such a huge margin, we can't think the industry enough."

The PDPF will use a large portion of those funds to help awards dollars for qualified educational programs in the form of grants. Organizations may apply for up to $5,000 to help implement ideas in educating consumers about the importance of the dairy industry.

The deadline to apply for grant funding is June 1. Grant criteria and an application package is available at: www.dairyfoundation.org
