Pavelski Named Finalist for 'Top Producer of the Year'
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/12/2018

Three farmers are in the running for the 2018 'Top Producer of the Year' award in Chicago, and one of those finalists are from America's Dairyland. The 19th annual award will be given during a seminar sponsored by Top Producer magazine on January 23-26.

The award is given each year to recognize producers whose excellence in business can teach industry peers about value-added ventures, succession plans, overcoming adversity and more. Judging is based on each of the farm's entrepreneurial originality, financial and business progress, and industry or community leadership.

Jeremie Pavelski, president of Heartland Farms in Hancock, is among the finalists. His company produces chipping and fresh-market potatoes, sweet corn, canning peas, green beans and soybeans. The Heartland team includes 120 full-time and 150 part-time employees.

Other finalists include Bailey Family Farms of Iola, Illinois; and Frank Howey from Monroe, North Carolina. Each will get to choose either a Steiger Rowtrac or a Magnum Rowtrac from Case IH for 150 hours of use.

Last year, John Pagel of Pagel's Ponderosa Dairy in Kewaunee was the top recipient of the award.

The Top Producer Seminar attracts more than 900 attendees each year.
