Bier Appointed as Wisconsin DNR Deputy Secretary
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/10/2019

State Natural Resources Secretary Preston Cole announced that Beth Bier will serve as the new deputy secretary of the agency, effective August 5. Bier has been working in the DNR Secretary's office since 2001, where she served several years as the outreach and policy coordinator at Gathering Waters Conservancy, as well as an assistant policy advisor for former DNR Secretary Scott Hassett.

"We are extraordinarily excited to have Beth join our team," Cole said. "With her background in state government she will be an important asset in advising the DNR leadership on important issues that impact the state."

A native of Indiana, Beth has a degree in Political Science from Indiana University. Prior to her return to the DNR, she spent the past 12 years working for State Senator Mark Miller, where she advocated for the Great Lakes Compact, Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund, wetland and groundwater protection and most recently PFAS standards and remediation.

Bier is replacing Elizabeth Kluesner as the number-two person at the agency, who will be relocating with her family out of state.
