The Shullsburg FFA Chapter has taken top honors in the 2018 State FFA Land Judging Contest.
The event, which was held near the site of Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Wood County this week, allows students to evaluate a plot of land and identify its soil type, slope and layer systems.
The Potosi FFA was named the second place team, with Landcaster placing third out of 11 senior division teams.
The highest scoring individual of the contest in the senior division was Madison Russell of the Shullsburg FFA, Morgan Seippel from the Lancaster FFA named runner-up; and Brittany Horer, Potosi, placing third.
Meanwhile, another team from Potosi earned top honors in the junior division, with Hannah Nusbaum of Potosi having the highest score in that category. Tyson Morrissey from Shullsburg was the second top soil junior division judge.
