UW-River Falls Team Wins National Forage Bowl Championship

For the third consecutive year, the Forage Bowl Team from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls took first place in the National Forage Bowl competition. The event was held this month in conjunction with the annual conference of the American Forage and Grassland Council in Wichita, Kansas.

The competition is an undergraduate team event with a format similar to the game show Jeopardy. Categories cover all aspects of forage production and management.

The winning team included Sarah Anderson of Antigo; Kolby Beehler of Foley, MN; Kira Jacobson of Cannon Falls, MN; and Mitchell Oswald of Brownsdale, MN. Jack Morrison of Farmington, MN, traveled with the team as an alternate.

The group was coached by Yoana Newman, associate professor of crop science and Wisconsin Extension Forage Specialist.
