Rep. Tranel Receives Friend of Towns Award
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/22/2020

The Wisconsin Towns Association has presented a Friend of the Towns Award to State Rep. Travel Tranel. The group says the Platteville Republican, who also serves on the Assembly Agriculture Committee, was instrumental in a number of the legislative session outcomes that positively impacted local town governmental bodies.

"Representative Tranel has a uniquely deep understanding of the rural economy, its dependence on an efficient supply chain, and the importance of road infrastructure in fostering a successful private sector and vibrant towns," said WTA Director Mike Koles. "Towns couldn't ask for a more outspoken advocate for building 21st century town roads that support the agribusiness and food systems of today and tomorrow."

In addition, Koles says Tranel recognizes that agriculture is the primary economic driver in a majority of towns.

"His leadership of a collaborative effort to overhaul the Livestock Facility Siting Law puts Wisconsin one step closer to developing a more efficient and effective land use foundation," Koles added. "Friends of town government share a core belief that the best decisions occur in a decentralized system and closest to the people."

The award was presented during a recent meeting of the Jamestown town board.

Last month, State Senate Ag Committee Chairman Howard Marklein also received a Friend of Towns award.
