Thiede to Replace Stepp in Regional EPA Position

A former staff member for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will head the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regional office in Chicago.
Kurt Thiede was appointed as the chief of EPA's Region 5, which oversees Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio.
Thiede succeeds former Wisconsin DNR Secretary Cathy Stepp, who is leaving the post for another job.
He worked for the state's natural resources agency for 18 years before taking a job recently as Stepp's chief of staff at the EPA.
