The University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Extension will offer its fall 2026 Cultivating Your Farm’s Future workshop series to help farm families prepare for transferring their operations to the next generation. The virtual program is open to farms statewide, allowing participants to attend sessions from any location.
The training will include four required live Zoom sessions on November 12, 2026, November 19, 2026, December 3, 2026, and December 10, 2026. Two additional sessions, scheduled for January 7, 2026, and January 14, 2027, will be optional. All sessions will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Central Time.
Participants will receive weekly homework assignments consisting of short videos, worksheets and reading materials to support their learning. The live sessions will not be recorded, helping create a comfortable environment for participants to discuss farm succession planning.
Registration costs $200 per farm, regardless of how many family members participate. The fee includes one Cultivating Your Farm’s Future workbook, one Cultivating Continuity book per farm, individual participant manuals, access to assigned course videos and participation in the four required sessions, along with the two optional classes.
Enrollment is limited to 15 farms to support an engaging learning experience. Registration closes October 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., allowing enough time for participants to receive their printed materials before the program begins.
Farm families interested in preparing for future ownership and management transitions can register through the online registration page.
