Authorities are trying to determine the cause of a barn fire at a turkey operation this week in Trempealeau County.
The Galesville Fire Department said it joined crews from more than a dozen other departments in battling a fire at Weltzien Farms, located northeast of Galesville.
A call from the farm came in at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Responders found the fire in the shop area inside one of the barns. Firefighters were able to keep it from spreading, but smoke damage was likely in other areas of the facility.
The farm houses nearly 20,000 turkey poults. It is not known how many of the birds were affected.
