Join Winter Camelina Cover Crop and Grain Opportunities

By Blake Jackson

Farmers and agricultural professionals are invited to attend a free in-person workshop on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Town Hall of Greenfield in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The event will focus on emerging opportunities in cover crop and oilseed production, with a spotlight on winter camelina.

This informative session will explore the potential of winter camelina both as a cover crop and as a harvestable grain.

Topics include its effects on corn yield, insights from first year on-farm trials, and whether drone seeding methods are effective. Attendees will also learn best practices for planting, relay cropping, harvesting, and storage techniques.

A special segment of the event will feature Anna Teeter, Novel Oilseeds Program Manager with Cargill, who will discuss current grain contracting opportunities and anticipated market expansion for winter camelina.

A complimentary lunch will be provided following the program.

This event is free to attend, but registration is required. Participants can register by contacting Sam Bibby via call or text at 608-219-2055. For additional information, Sam Bibby can also be reached at sbibby@wisc.edu.

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore innovative crop strategies and connect with industry leaders.
