Over 5,000 Chickens Lost in Columbia County Barn Fire

Another tragic barn fire in Wisconsin last week has caused more than 5,000 chickens to die at an Amish poultry farm in Columbia County.

According to the Pardeeville Fire Department, the blaze was reported just before 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening. That's where responders found a large structure fully engulfed in flames upon arrival.

About 5,300 birds were lost in all, as well as one cow. No humans were injured in the incident.

A coal burner is said to be the likely cause of the blaze.

Firefighters from nine departments responded to the fire call.
