Stride Youth Conference Explores Ag Careers November 12

Stride Youth Conference Explores Ag Careers November 12

By Blake Jackson

As the agriculture and dairy industries continue to adapt to the demands of a growing global population, career opportunities within these sectors are expanding.

The 2025 Stride Youth Leadership Conference, hosted by Professional Dairy Producers (PDP), aims to inspire high school students by showcasing career paths in agriculture while strengthening their leadership and communication skills.

The event, which qualifies as an “above the chapter level” activity for FFA members, will take place Wednesday, November 12, on the University of Wisconsin-River Falls campus.

The full-day, interactive program features leadership development, a campus tour, hands-on calf health diagnostic labs, and a career connections activity that introduces students directly to professionals across diverse agricultural fields.

“In every segment of agriculture, we need the best and brightest of the next generation to bring their ideas and enthusiasm so we can continue growing,” said Amber Keel, PDP Program Coordinator.

“Attending Stride is a great way for students to build leadership skills and learn about career options in agriculture and food production, including careers as producers, scientists, engineers, communicators, technicians and much more. There are truly opportunities for everyone.”

Michael Hoffman, founder and owner of Igniting Performance, Inc., will lead the leadership development sessions. Hoffman workshops will focus on building confidence, strengthening public speaking skills, and developing a presence that communicates clarity and influence.

Students will also engage with UW-River Falls faculty, graduate students, and experts through lab experiences designed to highlight opportunities for those passionate about agriculture and dairy.

The conference is open to students ages 15 to 18. Registration includes meals, training materials, and a Stride t-shirt. The deadline to register is Sunday, November 2. A health form and waiver, signed by a parent or guardian, is required for participation.
