Tar spot has become a major challenge for corn growers across key states like Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana. This disease reduces yield and affects grain quality, causing economic losses. Growers and agronomists now need smarter, safer tools to fight it. Tidal Grow® Spectra™ steps in as a natural solution that controls tar spot and supports healthy crop growth.
Tidal Grow® Spectra™ is a bioactive fungicide, bactericide, and nematicide made from chitosan, a natural compound derived from crustacean shells. This unique ingredient triggers the plant’s natural defense system, helping it fight stress and disease. Chitosan also attacks fungal pathogens directly by damaging their cell walls and stopping their reproduction.
This product offers multimodal action—it protects plants, boosts root function, improves nutrient uptake, and enhances the effectiveness of traditional fungicides. It can be applied in-furrow or as a foliar spray and works well in tank mixes. Importantly, it is non-toxic and requires minimal safety gear, with zero pre-harvest and re-entry intervals.
In 2024 trials in Georgia, Tidal Grow® Spectra™ showed a 7.4 bushel per acre yield increase when mixed with a reduced-rate fungicide. It also cut tar spot severity by 45%. These results prove it can improve both yield and disease control while lowering chemical use.
Recommended application includes 8 to 16 fl oz per acre, two to three times a season. It fits into Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies and is easy to use with standard farm equipment.
Tidal Grow® Spectra™ helps farmers maintain strong, healthy crops even under disease pressure. It delivers both protection and profit without adding complexity—making it a smart addition to any crop plan.
