The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has granted an extension for organic food processors and producers to apply for cost reimbursements associated with organic certification. The deadline for applications, originally set for October 31, 2023, has been extended to December 8, 2023. This extension provides farms and businesses involved in the production, processing, or packaging of certified organic agricultural products in Wisconsin with the opportunity to receive a 75 percent reimbursement for certification-related costs. The reimbursement is capped at $750 per certification category, and it covers expenses incurred between October 1, 2022, and September 30, 2023. Eligible farms and businesses must be located in Wisconsin and either already certified or actively seeking certification through an accredited certifier during the specified time frame. Application materials and instructions can be found on DATCP's website, and submissions should be sent via mail or email to DATCP-DAD, Organic Cost Share Program, P.O. Box 8911, Madison, WI 53708, or DATCPorganiccostshare@wisconsin.gov. This initiative, known as the Organic Certification Cost Share Program, is funded by the USDA National Organic Program through the federal government and administered by DATCP in Wisconsin.
