Wisconsin PDP Workshop to Teach AI Use in Dairy Operations

By Blake Jackson

Professional Dairy Producers (PDP) is introducing a new workshop designed to help dairy farm owners and upper-level managers better understand how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can support modern dairy operations.

The PDP Smart Dairy Workshop will focus on helping participants assess AI-powered tools, combine data from multiple systems and develop practical strategies to improve farm performance while managing potential risks.

The one-day program will be offered in two sessions. The first will take place on Wednesday, April 15, at Chippewa Valley Technical Center in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. The second session will be held on Thursday, April 16, at Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Registration will open at 9:30 a.m., and the workshop will run until 3:45 p.m. on both days.

“The Smart Dairy Workshop is a unique opportunity for forward-thinking dairy producers to take a deep dive into the technologies that are embedded into so many of the systems they use every day to run their operations,” said Cassandra Strupp, Richfield, Wis., dairy producer and PDP Program Manager.

“Experts will lead attendees through a hands-on, computer-lab style workshop with real-world case studies to better understand how AI technologies, tools and data can help them better analyze information and make decisions for their farms.”

Workshop instructors include Dr. Jeffrey Bewley, Executive Director of Genetics and Innovation at Holstein Association USA, and Miel Hostens, Robert and Anne Everette Associate Professor of Digital Management and Data Analytics in the Department of Animal Science and visiting professor at Ghent University.

Participants can earn up to 4.25 Dairy AdvanCE (DACE) continuing education credits. Space is limited, and advance registration is required through the PDP website or by contacting the organization directly at 800-947-7379.
