Sjostrom Crowned 2018 State Honey Queen

A Pierce County women will be creating a lot of buzz about the state's honey industry during the coming year. Hannah Sjostrom of Maiden Rock has been selected as the 2018 Wisconsin Honey Queen during the state honey association's annual convention.

Hannah is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she is pursuing a degree in nursing. She will spend the next year promoting the beekeeping industry in Wisconsin.

As honey queen, Sjostrom will be available to speak with civic groups and appear at fairs, festivals, and farmers markets. She will also give presentations in schools about honeybees and the beekeeping industry.

In January 2019, she will represent Wisconsin at the American Honey Queen competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Meanwhile, Lexi Gegare of Milton was selected as the state's new Honey Princess. She is a senior at the UW-La Crosse majoring in therapeutic recreation.
