The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has opened applications for its Food Security and Wisconsin Products Grant Program, which continues to receive support through a $10 million investment included in Wisconsin’s 2025-27 Biennial Budget secured by Gov. Tony Evers.
The program provides funding to nonprofit organizations that work to strengthen food access across Wisconsin while also supporting the state’s farmers, food producers, and processors. Grant recipients will use funds to purchase Wisconsin-grown and Wisconsin-made food products for distribution through the state's food security network.
To qualify, projects must involve partnerships that expand food access and improve the availability of Wisconsin products at food distribution sites throughout the state.
All food purchased through the program must be provided to Wisconsin residents at no cost. Additionally, the entire grant budget must be used for food purchases from Wisconsin suppliers that benefit communities within the state.
“The Food Security and Wisconsin Products Grant Program provides relief to those with insufficient access to food while also strengthening Wisconsin's farm-to-fork network," said DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski. “Thanks to the continued food security investments made by Gov. Evers, Wisconsin communities, producers, processors, and others benefit."
A total of $5 million will be awarded through a competitive application process. Approved projects may begin work in December 2026. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on October 1, 2026. Program materials and application details are available through the DATCP website.
