Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/06/2019
A Pierce County native has been selected as the 2019 American Honey Queen. Hannah Sjostrom of Maiden Rock was crowned last week during the American Beekeeping Federation's national convention in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
A third generation beekeeper, Hannah is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she is studying nursing. She plans to spend her nursing career in an oncology unit.
Sjostrom is no stranger to the industry. She served as the Wisconsin Honey Queen during the past year. In her new role, she will spend her reign promoting the beekeeping industry throughout the United States in a wide variety of venues.
She is the first Wisconsinite to serve in the role of American Honey Queen since Kim Kester of Nekoosa held the position in 2016.
