Trail Blazers 4-H Wins Ice Cream Flavor Contest
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/12/2020

'Road Trip Wisconsin,' developed by the Trail Blazers 4-H Club in La Crosse County, was chosen as the winner of the 2019 Cedar Crest Ice Cream 4-H Flavor Contest. Selected as the winner from the field of dozens of contestants, the favor will be available statewide in time to celebrate the summer time this coming July.

The winning entry features rich chocolate ice cream representing the fertile farmland of Wisconsin, walnut pieces for the northern woodlands, ribbons of caramel representing the mighty Mississippi and other rivers of our great state, and pieces of cheesecake for our long-standing history of cheese production. Contest coordinators say it will be available throughout the summer at ice cream parlors that serve Cedar Crest Ice Cream. It is also available for sale at 4-H food stands.

"We are proud to support this annual contest and partner with the 4-H organization," said Cedar Crest President Ken Kohlwey. "It's really exciting each year to see the enthusiasm, creativity and teamwork shown by the kids in coming up with a unique flavor. We look forward to sharing the winning entry with our consumers."

As the winning club, the Trail Blazers 4-H will receive a Cedar Crest Ice Cream Party and earned a $300 cash prize. The club is led by Peggy Maricle.

Other top finalists were the White Cedars 4-H Club, Winnebago County; Mississippi Mud 4-H Club, La Crosse County; Magnolia 4-H Club, Rock County; and Big Elk Badgers 4-H Club, Price County.

Entries were evaluated by a panel of judges chosen by Cedar Crest's staff.
