Wolves Attack Flock of Sheep in Wood County
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/10/2019
Officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that an apparent wolf attack in central Wisconsin left 13 sheep fatally wounded on a farm in Wood County.
Reports say the incident happened early Monday in the town of Hansen, near Wisconsin Rapids. It is not known how many wolves were involved. At least one sheep survived.
Agency records show that this is the second such attack by wolves in the past several months. In May, a pack of wolves killed 40 sheep on a farm in Price County.
The owner of the lost animals is expected to be compensated by the state's depredation program, which is partially funded by the USDA's Wildlife Service.
