Equity's Bonduel, Stratford Markets Earn Organic Certification

The Baraboo-based Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association announced that two more of its market locations have been organic certified.

President Curt Larson says the move means Equity's Bonduel and Stratford markets will provide an opportunity to sell organic livestock.

"The organic certification is another step we've taken toward meeting our producer's livestock marketing needs," Larson said. "Stratford and Bonduel will join Sparta in marketing organic livestock at the same commission as conventional livestock."

The certification was approved by Nature's International Certification Services, an organization accredited by the USDA's National Organic Program.

Bonduel will sell organic cattle every Monday afternoon, starting August 3. Stratford will sell organic at 11 a.m. every Tuesday, starting August 4. Stratford will also sell organic hay on Tuesdays.

Larson adds that Equity is not charging extra for this premium service.
