AAW honors two leaders with LEAVEN award

By Jamie Martin

At the 2024 American Agri-Women (AAW) National Convention, the organization celebrated its 50th anniversary by recognizing two remarkable women with the 2024 LEAVEN Award. This award is the highest honor given by AAW, acknowledging those who have significantly impacted agriculture through leadership and mentorship.

Marie Bowers
Marie Bowers, a fifth-generation grass seed farmer from Oregon, has shown leadership both on her farm and in agricultural advocacy. She is the Vital Issues Chair for AAW and has served in leadership positions with Oregon Women for Agriculture. Through her work with the AgChat Foundation, Marie has empowered farmers and ranchers to use social media as a tool for advocacy. Her commitment to mentorship and advocacy has made her an influential figure in agriculture.

Sara Reid Herman
Sara Reid Herman is a corporate finance expert specializing in agricultural lending and leadership development. She has been a driving force in structuring financial transactions and building strong relationships within the agriculture industry. Through the AAW Road to Influence Program, Sara has mentored future agricultural leaders. Her ability to navigate complex financial challenges has positioned her as a key player in agricultural finance.

Both Marie and Sara have demonstrated exceptional leadership, mentorship, and advocacy, earning them the 2024 LEAVEN Award. Their contributions to agriculture serve as an inspiration to others in the industry.
