The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association will have a new leader for the coming year. Steve Bechel of Eau Galle Cheese Factory in Durand was elected to serve as president of the group's board of directors.
Bechel is a longtime Master Cheesemaker and served on former Gov. Scott Walker's Dairy Task Force 2.0. He succeeds outgoing president Dave Buholzer of Klondike Cheese Company in Monroe.
"Earning the confidence of my peers and friends to lead the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association is a tremendous honor, and I'm excited to continue the work our board has been doing to expand member services and the reach and impact of the Association's advocacy work," Bechel said.
Other board officers include Doug Wilke, Milbank, South Dakota, First Vice President; Mike Sipple, Appleton, Second Vice President; Mike Neu, Milwaukee, Treasurer; and Chris Renard, Sturgeon Bay, Secretary.
Meanwhile, delegates elected several new members to the board. They include Tom Dahmen, Browntown; Kyle Jensen,Hilmar, California; and Chris Roelli, Shullsburg.
