Dane Co. Lifts Capacity Limits in Time for State FFA Convention

Things will appear as normal when agriculture education students arrive at the Alliant Energy Center next month for the annual Wisconsin FFA Convention. State FFA Director Cheryl Zimmerman announced that Dane County has lifted all restrictions on size of gatherings. That means coordinators will not need to enforce social distancing or capacity restrictions when the crowd arrives for the July 5-8 meeting.

"Many have been waiting to hear if we were limiting attendance for the convention, so at this point it appears that schools can bring as many people as they would like," Zimmerman said.

The state FFA convention typically brings in around 3,000 students and guests. However, last year it was moved to a virtual-only format because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zimmerman says despite the forum being held several weeks later than normal, it will still follow its typical Tuesday through Thursday schedule. Competitive events will be held Tuesday morning with the opening convention session later that day. State degree, star awards, honored adults and new state officers will be recognized on Wednesday evening. And the new FFA president and top chapter awards will be revealed on Thursday.
