Door County to Host Alice in Dairyland Finals

In 2024, the beautiful and scenic Door County will proudly host the 77th Alice in Dairyland Finals, presented by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP). From May 2 to May 4, 2024, this beloved agricultural event will showcase the county's rich farming heritage and flourishing agritourism sector.

With its stunning 300 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, impressive limestone bluffs, and 11 historic lighthouses, Door County provides a perfect backdrop for the Alice in Dairyland Finals. It's no wonder that over two million visitors flock to this charming vacation destination each year, creating a unique blend of agriculture and culinary experiences.

Door County is home to more than 600 farms, with an overwhelming majority being family owned. These farms cover over 114,500 acres and contribute over 2,100 jobs to the local economy, generating $78 million in economic activity. Known for its cherry production, the county ranks sixth in the state for overall fruit, tree nuts, and berry farming. Moreover, the county's agriculture industry is diverse, encompassing nursery crops, cattle, poultry, vegetables, grains, and more.

The county's agritourism industry plays a significant role in boosting the local economy, generating over 3,300 jobs and contributing $423 million in economic impact, according to the 2022 Economic Impact Report.

As the current 76th Alice in Dairyland, Ashley Hagenow, prepares for the 2023 finals in Sturgeon Bay, she will make multiple visits to Door County, highlighting the county's agritourism events and offerings. The selection of the 77th Alice in Dairyland in May 2024 will include press conferences, agribusiness tours, media interviews, and speeches, offering the public a chance to explore and celebrate Door County's local businesses and products.
