Farm community rallies in time of need

Farm community rallies in time of need

By Blake Jackson

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau's Heroes of Hope program acknowledges individuals who make a positive impact within the agricultural community. This year's top nominees are Matt Beck and Scott Schreffler from Washington County.

The Heroes of Hope program focuses on recognizing individuals who support others during challenging times. Beck and Schreffler's actions perfectly embodied this spirit.

Following a tragic farm accident that claimed the life of a local farmer, Beck and Schreffler felt compelled to act. They organized a large-scale tractor parade on the day of the funeral. Over 150 tractors participated, demonstrating the strength and unity of the farming community.

"Seeing such a display of support offered a glimmer of hope for the future," remarked Schreffler. He acknowledged the collaborative effort behind the parade and expressed his appreciation for the recognition.

The selflessness of Beck and Schreffler resonated within the community. Their nominator highlighted their efforts, stating they "went above and beyond" to honor their friend.

Several other individuals were also recognized as finalists for the 2024 Heroes of Hope award, including Andrew Dal Santo, Jennifer Webster, Tim Lins, and Katie Roth.

The top nominees, Beck and Schreffler, will receive cash prizes and recognition in the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation's magazine.

The 2024 Heroes of Hope program received sponsorship from various organizations, including Rural Mutual Insurance Company and Kwik Trip.
