Finalists of Wisconsin Soybean Yield Contest Named



The Wisconsin Soybean Association and Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board have named the top contestants in this year's Soybean Yield Contest.

DIVISION 1:
** Jim Wilson, St. Croix Falls (planted Asgrow AG11X8)
** Josey W. Wilson, St. Croix Falls (planted Pioneer P16A84X)

DIVISION 2
No entries were submitted for Division 2

DIVISION 3
** Jim Salentine, Luxemburg (planted Stine 19EC32)
** Kelly Farms, Arlington (planted Asgrow AG24XF1)

Note: UW Bean Team, Madison (planted Pioneer P20A22X), but are ineligible for official prizes as they are graduate students of Dr. Conley.

DIVISION 4:
** Ron Digman, Mount Hope (planted Pioneer P28A42X)
** Don and Doug Midthun, Arlington (planted Asgrow AG20X9)

Meanwhile, the WSA/WSMB will also present a statewide award for soybean quality. Daniel Ballmer, Janesville (planted Dyna-Gro S28XF92) submitted an entry and is a finalist.

The state's soybean office says final ranking will be announced at the Corn/Soy Expo in Wisconsin Dells in February.

The contest is sponsored by the Wisconsin Soybean Program and organized to encourage the development of new and innovative management practices and to show the importance of using sound cultural practices in soybean production.
