An Ashland County meat processing company has issued a voluntary Class II recall for a variety of prepared and precooked meal items. Heritage Meats LLC in Butternut says the recall also involves one of its raw beef products, which is sold under the name Bayfield Foods South Shore Meats.
The recall was prompted after a routine inspection showed that the products were not produced under a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point plan as required in meat safety regulations.
State health officials say no illnesses have been reported as a result of consuming these products.
Consumers who have any of the affected products should return them to Heritage Meats LLC for a refund.
