A Dane County beef producer has been chosen as the 2021 Cattleperson of the Year by the Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association. Eric Johnson from Dane was presented with the award during last week's World Beef Expo in West Allis.

He and his family operate Johnson Valley Shorthorns, a small seedstock and cow/calf operation outside Lodi. They are also active in the Wisconsin Shorthorn Association and regularly exhibits at World Beef Expo, where Eric now helps his grandchildren participate.
Johnson is a past board member of the Wisconsin Shorthorn Association, was a long-time Lodi Agricultural Fair Board member and serves as the fair's beef superintendent. He recently retired from ABS Global.
