Kewaunee Co. Students Earn FTD Scholarships

The group that ran the 2017 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days show held that year in Kewaunee County has announced its latest round of college scholarship distributions.

Executive Committee leaders say the scholarships are being awarded to students beyond the first half of post-secondary education, such as applications in their third and fourth year of college or the second year of a two-year program. Those awarded were to have graduated from high schools in Algoma, Denmark, Kewaunee, Luxemburg-Casco, Mishicot, and Southern Door.

To be eligible, someone from the student's immediate family must have been involved in the Farm Tech show as a sponsor, volunteer or vendor. They also needed to have at least a 2.5 GPA and be currently enrolled in post-secondary education school or technical study.

Winners include Taylor Paye, a graduate of Luxemburg-Casco High School, attending the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine; Jared Baudhuin, a graduate of Southern Door High School, attending UW-Madison, and majoring in Dairy Science; and Katie Koppel, a graduate of Mishicot High School, attending UW-River Falls and majoring in Agriculture Education.

A total of $6,000 was awarded in 2021, and a total of $60,000 will be distributed over a 10-year period.
