The USDA is now taking nominations to fill four positions on the National Organic Standards Board. The NOSB panel serves as a federal advisory committee that provides advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Agriculture on the implementation of the Organic Foods Production Act.
NOSB board members are volunteers and come from across the organic community. Each member is appointed by the nation's agriculture secretary to a five-year term.
The board positions are specifically designated to represent various sectors of the organic community, including those who have expertise in areas of environmental protection and resource conservation, own or operate an organic production or handling operation, or own or operate a retail establishment with significant trade in organic products.
