Wisconsin's nine-day gun-deer season opens on Saturday, and state wildlife officials are enthusiastic about the prospects for 2022.
DNR Deer Specialist Jeff Pritzl says he expects this year's harvest numbers to be similar to last year, with an estimated buck harvest projected at 150,000 animals.
Licenses may be purchased through Go Wild, the DNR's online license and registration portal, or at any of the more than 1,000 license sales agent locations. As a reminder, most DNR service centers remain temporarily closed to the public.
All harvested deer must be registered electronically by 5 p.m. the day after the deer is recovered.
The gun-deer season ends on November 27.
