Nitrogen Field Day Set for August 4 in Chippewa County

By Blake Jackson

Farmers and agricultural professionals are invited to attend the upcoming Nitrogen Management & Water Quality Field Day hosted by Chippewa County Extension on Monday, August 4, 2025.

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at Triple T Farms, located at 9505 County Highway Q in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

This free, public event will spotlight the Nitrogen Optimization Pilot Program (NOPP), a statewide initiative supported by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).

Attendees will gain practical knowledge about sustainable nitrogen management strategies that protect water quality while supporting crop production.

Three featured speakers will present key research and findings: Jerry Clark, Extension Regional Crops and Soils Educator, will share local on-farm nitrogen research results.

Lindsey Rushford, Extension On-Farm Nitrogen Optimization Coordinator, will discuss insights gained through NOPP participation.

Dr. Steven Hall, Extension Water Quality Specialist from UW-Madison’s Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences, will explain nitrogen movement and the use of lysimeters.

Participants can also earn 2.0 Continuing Education Units for Certified Crop Advisors (CCAs).

For more details or to register for the event, contact Chippewa County Extension at 715-726-7950. This field day is an excellent opportunity to learn, connect, and support sustainable agriculture in Wisconsin.
