The Wisconsin Organic Advisory Council is now taking nominations from those interested in serving on the group's board. According to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, three seats are now open for an organic farmer, organic certification industry, and a member at-large.
The group works to advise government agencies and organizations on critical organic issues and supports organic production, processing and purchasing opportunities. Wisconsin ranks second in the nation for the number of organic farms.
Members serve three-year terms and attend quarterly meetings. Selected council members will begin their service at the October meeting.
People can choose to self-nominate or nominate someone else. Applications are due by September 17.
