The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is encouraging homeowners and renters to register for the 2026 landscape pesticide registry between November 1, 2025, and February 1, 2026.
This free program provides advance notifications from commercial lawn care companies that plan to apply pesticides to lawns, trees, or shrubs on nearby properties.
Participants can list their own addresses as well as those on the same or adjacent blocks to receive alerts. Registration must be renewed annually, and there is no fee to participate.
Individuals can register online or by submitting a paper application through the DATCP website at datcp.wi.gov.
Beginning March 15, 2026, commercial pesticide applicators must notify registered participants at least 12 hours before treating nearby properties.
The registry covers only commercial landscape applications and does not apply to private homeowners or landlords applying their own pesticides, applications made inside or outside buildings such as schools or workplaces, or agricultural pesticide use.
The term “pesticide” includes herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. For the 2025 growing season, nearly 3,900 addresses participated in the registry.
