By Blake Jackson

The Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association (WCA) is inviting cattle producers to attend the 2025 Winter Conference and Annual Meeting on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at The Lodge at Mauston.

This educational event is open to both members and non-members, offering a comprehensive program to inform and connect attendees.

Registration opens at 9:00 a.m., followed by the WCA Annual Meeting at 9:30 a.m. Attendees will hear key updates, including a report from the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and legislative insights from WCA Lobbyist Jordan Lamb of The Welch Group.

Additionally, WCA leadership will provide updates through board and committee reports. An important part of the event will be the election for an open seat on the WCA Board of Directors.

Board members serve as vital links between WCA and affiliate organizations, actively participating in committees, member recruitment, sponsorship acquisition, and fundraising initiatives.

The Winter Conference kicks off with a motivational keynote by Laura Daniels from Hitch Pin Consulting. Her session, “Needed Hitch Pins, Why Connecting Matters,” will encourage attendees to recognize their value and enhance their connections within the industry.

After lunch, participants can choose from two breakout sessions:

  • “Beginning and Aspiring Farmer/Rancher Tips and Tricks,” led by Kevin Plante of the Wisconsin Farm Center.
  • “What’s Your Farm’s Future? Start Making Your Plan,” hosted by Joy Kirkpatrick from the UW-Extension Farm Management Program.

Afternoon sessions include:

  • “Pasture to Plate: How Feeding Impacts What We Eat,” presented by Zeb Gray of Diamond V.
  • “Defending Your Empire: Secure Beef Supply Planning,” led by Bill Halfman and Dr. Sandy Stuttgen from the UW-Extension Division of Livestock.

The event concludes with a networking reception, offering a valuable opportunity to connect with industry peers and experts.

To ensure meal availability, attendees are encouraged to register by Monday, February 10. For more details and registration, visit WCA Winter Conference.
