The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources confirms a wild deer tested positive for chronic wasting disease in the town of Germania in southwestern Shawano County.
As required by law, the DNR will renew the baiting and feeding bans in Shawano and Waupaca counties because of the short distance between the two areas.
The positive deer was an adult doe harvested during the 2020 gun deer season.
Wildlife officials say they will continue surveillance near the detection site.
This is the first wild deer detection in Shawano County.
