State Holstein Farms Recognized as 'Herds of Excellence' Winners



The National Holstein Association has released the names of the 2020 'Herds of Excellence' award winners. Nine producers from around the country were honored this year by the group, with six of those being from Wisconsin.

The organization says the elite group of farmers have met the strict criteria to qualify for this prestigious award. To qualify, each member must be 25 percent above breed average Mature Equivalent for milk, fat, and protein; must have classified within the last year and have an actual average classification score of 83 points or higher; must have at least 70 percent of the herd homebred; and must be enrolled in the Association's TriStar program.

Wisconsin's winning herd owners include

SMALL HERD DIVISION (10-99 Cows)

** B-Long Holsteins - Bruce, Brenda & Bret Long, New London

** Ever-Green-View Holsteins, LLC - The Kestell Family, Waldo

** Hill-Ton Holsteins - The Hamilton Family, Cuba City

MEDIUM HERD DIVISION (100-499 Cows)

** Milrose Holsteins - Joseph Brantmeier, Sherwood

** Koepke Farms Inc. - The Koepke Family, Oconomowoc

LARGE HERD DIVISION (500+ Cows)

** Siemers Holstein Farms - Siemers Family, Newton
