State Pork Producers, Supporters Honored During Annual Meeting



The Wisconsin Pork Association has bestowed its top awards to members and other supporters during the group's annual meeting last week in Wisconsin Dells. The WPA presented its Distinguished Producer Service Award to Topigs Norvsin, a leading swine genetics company renowned for its innovative genetic solutions for cost-efficient pig production. Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture earned the Distinguished Public Service Award for assisting the meat industry during the pandemic.

The 2021 Distinguished Industry Award went to Minitube USA in Delavan. The company provides innovative products and timely service to their customers in the U.S. and Canada.

And Walter Taylor was the recipient of the Distinguished Agri-Communicator Award that recognizes an individual who promotes agriculture throughout the year. He is an ag instructor and past superintendent at the Wisconsin State Fair.

Meanwhile, officers were elected to lead the association for the coming year. They include Ray Ibeling, president; Christina Meylor, vice president; Ryan Cain, secretary; and Brian Klubertanz, treasurer. Members also elected incumbents Brian Klubertanz and Bob Spurley to the board, along with newcomers Curt Watson and Jeff Morris.

The 2022 National Pork Board delegates were also chosen to represent Wisconsin during the year ahead. They will be Ryan Cain and Brian Klubertanz.
