USDA launches ASCE initiative for specialty crops exports

USDA launches ASCE initiative for specialty crops exports

By Blake Jackson

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will unveil the initial funding opportunities for its novel Assisting Specialty Crops Exports (ASCE) initiative. The announcement will be delivered by Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Alexis M. Taylor at a press conference scheduled for Friday, May 17th, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

This initiative underscores the USDA's and the Biden-Harris Administration's dedication to fostering a more robust and diverse marketplace for American agricultural producers and businesses, both domestically and internationally.

ASCE represents a groundbreaking partnership between the USDA and the specialty crops sector, aiming to dismantle non-tariff trade barriers that impede the export of U.S. fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, and other specialty crops.

Media representatives interested in attending the press conference and receiving logistical details are required to RSVP via email to Press-FAS@usda.gov by noon EDT on Thursday, May 16th.
