UW-Platteville crops team wins regional contest

By Blake Jackson

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Collegiate Crops Team has achieved a significant milestone by securing first place at the Regional Crops Contest held in Brookings, South Dakota.

The team, composed of Anna Hagemann, Jack Lichte, Allie Bizosky, Anna Koehler, and Sydney Rider, showcased their expertise in plant and seed identification, commercial grain grading, and seed analysis. Their exceptional performance was guided by the dedicated coaching of Dawn Lee, Rich Crow, and Dr. Roger Higgs.

Individual accolades also came to UW-Platteville, with Anna Hagemann securing first place and Jack Lichte claiming third place.

Building on this success, the team is now gearing up to compete in two prestigious national contests: the American Royal Kansas City Collegiate Crops Contest and the Chicago Collegiate Crops Contest.

The team's participation in these events is made possible by the generous support of the Doug and Jean Buhler Undergraduate Travel Impact Grant and donations to the UW-Platteville Foundation Soils and Crops Teams Endowment Fund.
