Virtual Dairy Day at the Capitol Set for April 14

Online registrations are being accepted for the Dairy Business Association's annual Dairy Day at the Capitol. The virtual event is planned for April 14, which will feature state and national lawmakers and other dignitaries discussing issues and topics that are relevant to the dairy sector and allied industry.

Organizers say the program kicks-off at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome by DBA President Amy Penterman and greetings from Wisconsin Agriculture Secretary-designee Randy Romanski. That will be followed by presentation from U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin.

Other speakers include Sen. Kathy Bernier, Reps. Mark Born, Amy Loudenbeck, Greta Neubauer, and Missy Hughes of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. A pre-recorded message will also be presented from Tommy Thompson, interim president of the University of Wisconsin System.

The purpose of the rally is to give producers an opportunity to hear from lawmakers on DBA priorities, such as truth-in-labeling, driver permits for all residents, clean water initiatives, dairy processor grants and export initiatives, and long-term transportation funding.

Participation in the 2021 Dairy Day at the Capitol is free, but a financial contribution toward DBA's political action committee is recommended.
